What is more important? Logic or knowledge
What is more important? Logic or knowledge |
A young man from the USA goes to a
far-famed guru.
He says: "I have come to you as I
would like to review the Vedas."
"Do you recognize Sanskrit?"
Guru asks.
"No," replied the young man.
"Have you observed any Indian
philosophy?"
"No. however don't be concerned.
I have finished my doctorate treatise at Harvard on logic. So now, I'd wish to
complete my education with a brief study of the Vedas."
"I doubt," says the Guru,
"that you're able to study the Vedas. This is the deepest knowledge ever
given to mankind. I'm willing to look at you in logic if you want, and then I
can teach you the Vedas if you pass the test. "
The young man agrees.
The Guru raises 2 fingers of his hand.
"Two men come out of a chimney. One comes out with a clean face; the
opposite one comes out with an unclean face.
Which one washes the face? Guru asks.
The young man stares at the guru.
"Is this associate to examination of logic?"
The Guru nods.
"The one with the dirty face
washes his face" - he replies with confidence.
"Wrong. One with a clean face
washes his face.
Test the logic! An individual with an
unclean face sees a clean face and thinks that his face is clean. The
individual with a clean face sees an unclean face and thinks that his face is
dirty. Therefore, an individual with a clean face washes their face. "
"Very clever," says the
young man. "Give me another test."
The Guru once more raised 2 fingers.
"Two men come out a chimney. One comes out with a clean face; the opposite
comes out with an unclean face.
Which one washes your face?
“We have already established. The
individual with the clean face washes his face. "
"Wrong. Everybody washed their
face."
Test the logic! Individual with an
unclean face sees a clean face and thinks that his face is clean. The
individual with a clean face sees an unclean face and thinks that his face is
dirty. So, one with a clean face washes his face. Once an individual with the
clean face washes his face, then by seeing this, one with unclean face also he
washes his face. Therefore, all washed his face.
"I ne'er thought,
therefore," says the young man. it's surprising to me that I will create a
slip-up in logic. Check me once more."
The Guru then raised 2 fingers.
"Again two men come out of a chimney. Comes out with a clean face; the
opposite one comes out with an unclean face.
Which one washes your face?
"Everyone washed their face."
"Wrong. Nobody washes his
face."
Test the logic! Individual with an
unclean face sees a clean face and thinks that his face is clean. The
individual with a clean face sees an unclean face and thinks that his face is
dirty. However once an individual with a clean face sees an unclean face, he
doesn't wash his face; he conjointly doesn't wash his face. Therefore, nobody
washes the face. "
The young man is desperate. "I am
qualified to learn the Vedas. Please provide me with another chance. "
When he says with a broken confidence,
the Guru agrees, the Guru raises 2 fingers. "Two men come out of a
chimney. Comes out with a clean face; the opposite one comes out with an
unclean face. Which one washes the face?
"No one washes his face."
"Incorrect. Does one currently
see why logic is not truly associated as a basis for the study of the Vedas?
Tell me, two men will return down from the small chimney, and for one with a
clean face and also the other one with a dirty face." Don't you see? The
entire question is nonsense, foolishness, and if you pay your whole life
attempting to answer silly queries, all of your answers are foolish too."
Abstract:
The story is not about clean face or a
dirty face. However, it had been a matter of knowledge that one man makes his
call largely by watching the position of another and not his own position.
Constant factor happens in another situation wherever an individual with dirty
face washes the face simply because an individual with a clean face washes the
face. Not as a result of his face is dirty. Most mortals create their life
choices supported by event of somebody else's life, instead of being galvanized
by the true knowledge of their life and scenario.
Reasoning will answer queries up to
level. However, not all queries will be determined by reasoning. As a result,
once an incident doesn't seem in our argument, we tend to dismiss it as
notional and deny its existence. However, by denying that event, it does not
mean that event or thing does not exist. Whereas, we tend to be referred to as
ignorant. As a result of the once an event affects our lives in another way, we
tend to take into account it as a coincidence. And that we add it to our good
luck or unhealthy luck. Whereas it caused by our ignorance.
That is why wisdom is additional vital
than logic. Wisdom helps you to know those dimensions of life where logic does
not sit.
